Gene Krupa #2, 1962
Babe Baker’s Jazz Corner, Cincinnati, 1962
Gene Krupa was already a legend when I photographed him in 1962. He became a national celebrity when he joined Benny Goodmans band, in 1934.
He was playing at Babe Baker’s, a small dark club with just one spotlight. I was positioned on the floor, in front of a low band stand. Krupa was full of energy, moving fast. Charlie Ventura was on Tenor Sax. I was lucky to get this shot.
